My Most Recommended Comic Book Runs by DC: Part 1

1. The New Teen Titans vol. 1 (1980) #1-40, Annual 1-2/Tales of the Teen Titans (1984) #41-54, Annual 3/The New Teen Titans vol. 2 (1984) #1-6 and the Tales of the New Teen Titans (1982) 4-issue mini-series  [Marv Wolfman/George Perez's era on the New Teen Titans]

2. The Authority vol. 1 (1999) #1-12 [Warren Ellis/Bryan Hitch's run on The Authority] And I'd also throw in issue #29 (the last issue of vol. 1) for the wedding of Apollo & Midnighter, the first gay super-hero comic book marriage.

3. Supergirl vol. 3 (1994) #1-80, Annual 1-2 [Peter David's run on Supergirl, not sure if it’s considered vol. 4 due to the Daring New Adventures of Supergirl series]

4. Wonder Woman vol. 2 (1987) #1-62, Annual 1-2, and War of the Gods (1991) #1-4 (of 4) [George Perez-written & half-drawn run]; Wonder Woman vol. 2 #164-188 [Phil Jimenez's run]; Wonder Woman vol. 2 # 195-226 (last issue of vol. 2) & Wonder Woman: The Hiketeia (2002) original graphic novel [Greg Rucka's run with various artists]; Wonder Woman vol. 2 # 101-136, Annual 5-6, Wonder Woman Secret Files & Origins (1998) #1 [John Byrne's run]; Wonder Woman vol. 2 #139-152, 156-159, Annual 7, Wonder Woman Secret Files & Origins (1998) #2 [Eric Luke's run]; Wonder Woman vol. 2 #0, 63-64, 66-87, 89-100, Annual 3, Wonder Woman Special (1992) 1 [William Messner-Loebs' run] -- There's a few other very brief runs on this series by other writers, but I ordered the major ones according to my preference & consider this the post-Crisis on Infinite Earths/pre-Infinite Crisis Wonder Woman comics period.

5. Doctor Fate vol. 2 (1988) #25-41 [William Messner-Loebs' run on Dr. Fate]; Doctor Fate vol. 2 #1-24,
along with the Doctor Fate vol. 1 (1987) 4-issue mini-series [J.M. DeMatteis' run on Dr. Fate]

6. Aquaman vol. 5 (1994) #0, 1-46, Annual 1-4, long with the Atlantis Chronicles (1990) 7-issue mini-series, and the Aquaman: Time and Tide 4-issue mini-series from 1993 [Peter David's run on Aquaman]

7. JSA (1999) #1-81, Annual 1, and the JSA Secret Files (1999) #1-2 [David Goyer/James Robinson/Geoff Johns' run on JSA—David Goyer was on from the start of the series & co-wrote with both Geoff Johns & James Robinson, but Robinson only had a hand in the first 4 issues, while Johns co-wrote with Goyer starting with #5 & after a while wrote the series himself for most of this run.]

8. L.E.G.I.O.N. (1989) #1-39, 50-51, Annual 1-2 [Alan Grant/Keith Giffen's run]; L.E.G.I.O.N. #40-50, 52-60, Annual 3-4 [Barry Kitson/Mark Waid's run], & L.E.G.I.O.N. #61-70 (last issue of the series) & Annual 5 [Tom Peyer's run] -- Basically, I loved the entire series, but in the order I listed the runs.

9. Madame Xanadu (2008) #1-29 [I didn’t really care for #24-27 at all though, but this was Matt Wagner’s entire Madame Xanadu series for Vertigo.] -- This series may have been under the Vertigo label, but it could've easily been done under the mainstream DC just as easily & has many cameos of DC characters & even a nod to the Golden Age Green Lantern.

10. Zatanna vol. 2 (2010) #1-6, 8-11, & 13, Detective Comics vol. 1 (1937) #824, 833-834, 843-844, 847, 850 [Paul Dini’s run on restoring Zatanna's character after she was trashed in Identity Crisis] Throw in Zatanna vol. 2 #12 & 15 too! [stand-alone issues by the teams of Matt Sturges & Stephane Roux and Derek Fridolfs & Jamal Igle]http://www.comicvine.com/detective-comics/4050-18058/object-appearances/4005-5691/
